  • BIS STANDARDS FOR CEMENT

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has issued specific codes for various types of cement manufactured in the country, which forms the basic guideline for the quality parameters to be adopted by the manufacturer. It is mandatory for the manufacturer to mdisplay the relevent IS code on the bag for easy identification of the type of cement in the bag. While bying cement always ensure that there are details on the bag. The relevent BIS codes for different types of cement are as given below :-

  • CEMENT'S ROLE IN HOME CONSTRUCTION

Cement is the basic binding material in concrete mixes which consists cement, sand, stone aggregates and water. Cement motor consists of cement, sand and water. When mixed with water, cement and hardens by means of chemicals reactions.

    Types of cement Applications
    Ordinary Portland Cement Grades-33,43,53**
    • Brickwork
    • Plaster
    • Concrete
    • For Slab, beams, columns etc
    • All types of general constructions
    Blended Cement
    Portland Pozzolana Cement
    Portland Slag Cement
    • All types of building construcio works as mentioned above
    • Blended cement offers better long term strength gain and durability of concrete
    • Concrete made with blended cement exhibits better resistance to various attacks on concrete such as sulphate, chlorides, etc
** The gradation of cement as 33,43 and depends on its compressive strength at age of 3,7 and 28dats in MPa
  • READY MIX CONCRETE - GRADES OF CONCRETE
